Puri, June 28: The world-famous Puri Rath Yatra witnessed the grand procession of the three chariots along the Grand road yesterday. However, none of the chariots could reach the Gundicha Temple, known as Sharadhabali. Thus, the chariot pulling will resume today at 9:30 am.
The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) announced via its X handle stating “On June 28, 2025, at 9:30 am, the chariot pulling of Lord Jagannath will resume. While the three chariots remain stationed at Badadanda, the divine wooden deities of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra, and Sudarshan are giving darshan to devotees. The sacred Gundicha Yatra has been conducted without any incidents. All rituals related to the Gundicha Yatra were completed on schedule. The Chief Administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration expressed heartfelt gratitude and thanks to all sevak niyogs, temple authorities, district administration, police administration, various government institutions, the media, and, above all, the countless devotees of Lord Jagannath for their contributions to the successful execution of the event.”
Meanwhile, Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan explained that the delay in the Rath Yatra was due to an unprecedented turnout of devotees this year and the intricate process of maneuvering Lord Balabhadra’s chariot. He assured devotees they would have another opportunity to participate in pulling the chariots when the procession resumes today.
