New Delhi, December 19: Proceedings in the Rajya Sabha were disrupted on Thursday following heated exchanges between the treasury and opposition benches over allegations of misconduct involving Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
The ruckus began after BJP MP S Phangnon Konyak accused Gandhi of shouting at her during a protest on Parliament premises. The treasury benches demanded immediate action against Gandhi, with some BJP leaders claiming that two other MPs were injured during the incident.
Opposition parties countered by demanding a debate on Union Minister Amit Shah's remarks on B R Ambedkar, escalating the discord in the House.
Chairman Jagdeep Dhankar informed members that Konyak had met him to discuss her complaint and assured them that he was reviewing the matter. Amid the uproar, the House was adjourned for the day.
