New Delhi, July 28: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, speaking in the Lok Sabha on Monday, criticised the Opposition for raising what he called “small issues” during a discussion on Operation Sindoor, warning that such distractions undermine national security.
“When our objective is to aim higher, we should not let smaller concerns distract us, especially when national security is at stake,” Singh said in his statement on the military operation.
He criticised the choice of questions raised by the Opposition over time and opined that queries regarding the felling of Indian planes don't reflect the national sentiments correctly.
Singh pointed out that while the Opposition has repeatedly questioned the number of Indian aircraft lost, they have failed to ask how many enemy assets were destroyed.
“The job of the Opposition is to question the government—but questions should reflect the national sentiment. They’ve asked how many of our planes fell, but never once asked how many of theirs we destroyed,” he said.
Highlighting the success of Operation Sindoor, Singh stated that Indian forces successfully destroyed terrorist camps in Pakistan and neutralized those responsible for the Pahalgam terror attack.
“If the question is whether we destroyed terrorist camps—yes, we did. Were our soldiers harmed? No. Have we dealt with the terrorists who desecrated the ‘sindoor’ of our sisters and daughters? Yes, their masterminds have been eliminated,” he added.
Calling Operation Sindoor a “historic and decisive” move, the Defence Minister praised the Indian armed forces for their unwavering dedication and sacrifices.
“Parliament stands united in saluting the bravery of our soldiers, who are always prepared to lay down their lives for the nation,” Singh said.
