Bhubaneswar, July 5: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast continued rainfall across Odisha till July 7, with no immediate signs of a dry spell even beyond that period. The state is expected to witness widespread light to moderate showers over the next three days, with heavy rainfall likely in certain regions.

According to the IMD, a cyclonic circulation currently lies over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining areas, accompanied by a trough line passing through the region. Additionally, the monsoon trough extends up to the northeastern Bay of Bengal, contributing to persistent cloudy skies and wet conditions across the state.

In the last 24 hours, several areas have already recorded rainfall.

On the occasion of Bahuda Yatra today, most parts of Odisha are likely to experience light to moderate rain. Districts such as Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, and Deogarh could see heavy downpours at isolated places. Thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds are also anticipated.

Weather warnings have also been issued for Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, and Bargarh, where lightning and strong winds may occur. Puri is expected to remain partly cloudy with moderate showers, while Bhubaneswar may experience similar weather conditions.

Looking ahead, on Sunday, July 6, many parts of the state are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall, with heavy showers expected in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Sambalpur, and Jharsuguda.

The wet spell is forecast to continue on July 7, with Sundargarh and Jharsuguda expected to receive particularly heavy rainfall.

Rainfall activity may reduce from July 8 onwards; however, isolated showers are still likely in some areas.
