Queue-based darshan system to be introduced at Puri Jagannath Temple before New Year 2027

Bhubaneswar, Nov 6: The Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri is set to introduce a queue-based darshan (Dhadi Darshan) system before the New Year, Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan announced on Friday.

The Minister said the new system is expected to be implemented after the holy month of Kartik, with preparations nearing completion.

Under the proposed arrangement, eight ramps will be installed to facilitate the simultaneous darshan of devotees. The system is expected to accommodate approximately 10,000 devotees per hour. The queue complex will be developed in the area between Garuda Stambha and Bahara Katha, the temple's outer wooden barricade.

The ramps will operate on a collapsible bridge mechanism, opening during darshan hours and closing once the daily rituals are completed. The system has been designed with technical assistance from IIT Bhubaneswar.
