Bhubaneswar, Sept 30: Former bureaucrat, Rajya Sabha MP & veteran politician Pyarimohan Mohapatra’s wife Pratibha Mohapatra passed away in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.

Mohapatra was battling cancer and undergoing a long-time treatment who died today  at  79, said late Mohapatra’s family sources.

According to her family members, Pratibha, who was discharged from the hospital yesterday, complained of an acute chest pain and subsequently suffered from frequent vomiting in the morning while she was at her Sahid Nagar residence. She was rushed for a private hospital in Bhubaneswar for resuscitation. However, she succumbed to severe chest pain en route.

A pall of gloom descended in the Captital city and condolence messages were poured in from denizens, with the death of the prominent woman.

Leaders, retired bureacrats and prominent personalites visited late Mohapatra's residence to offer ultimate tribute to the departed soul.
