Puri, May 13: In a major action against illegal sand mining, the Puri Mines Department conducted a raid at unauthorized sand piles near Chandpada village in Kanas. The operation was carried out following complaints about illegal extraction by Sudhanshu Mahapatra, also known as Happy, and others.

During the raid, authorities seized sand from the illegal site and are now verifying the quantity and ownership documents. The Puri Mining Officer, along with the additional Tahsildar of Kanas, is supervising the investigation to ensure strict compliance with mining regulations.

Officials stated that this move is part of ongoing efforts to curb unlawful sand mining in the district and prevent environmental degradation.
