Cuttack, February 26: Tension erupted at the Athagarh area in  Cuttack on Wednesday over the death of an under trial prisoner (UTP).

Family members of deceased, identified as Mohammed Tayab demanded action against the Adarsh Jail authorities alleging foul play behind the incident.

Protestors staged a road blockade at Khuntuni in Cuttack district demanding justice. 

According to reports, Tayab, who was lodged in the Athagarh Adash Jail  was shifted to Athgarh Hospital after he complained of feeling unwell on Tuesday night, where he was declared dead.

On being informed, locals of Pankala village led by Tayab’s family members and relatives blocked the Khuntuni-Narsinghpur route for long time. During the agitation they demanded a high-level probe into the matter and sought due compensation to the family members.

With the interventions of the Tigiria police the roadblockade was vacated and the agitation was pacified.
