New Delhi, Aug 14: On the eve of the 78th Independence Day, President Droupadi Murmu will deliver her address to the nation at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. The speech will initially be broadcast in Hindi, followed by an English version, with regional language broadcasts to follow.
In her 2023 address, President Murmu emphasized India's resilience and its role as a beacon of hope. She highlighted the nation's progress, including high GDP growth, its leadership in the G-20, and advancements in education and science, such as the National Education Policy 2020 and the Chandrayaan-3 mission. She expressed satisfaction with the emphasis on human development and education, citing the National Education Policy as a significant step in social empowerment.
The President also stressed the importance of women's economic empowerment, urging citizens to prioritize women's advancement as a continuation of the ideals from the freedom struggle.
Later in the day, President Murmu will inaugurate Amrit Udyan at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, a garden that will be open to the public from Friday until September 15. Among the attractions in Amrit Udyan are a stone abacus, a sound pipe, and a music wall. Visitors will receive eco-friendly seed papers containing Tulsi plant seeds as mementoes.
