Balasore, June 10: A rescue operation unfolded in Odisha's Balasore district as police found a baby boy nearly a day after a woman abducted him. The incident occurred at the Balasore District Headquarters Hospital, where the newborn was allegedly snatched from the maternity ward on Sunday morning.
Anita Dandapata, a resident of Kulhachada village under Baliapal block, had given birth to a baby boy at the hospital on Saturday. Soon after delivery, the mother and son were admitted to the maternity ward. However, during a moment of rest, an ASHA worker accompanied by an unidentified woman entered the ward. Upon realizing the baby was missing, the family promptly filed a complaint with the police.
With the help of CCTV footage of the hospital, authorities identified the ASHA worker and the woman involved. A dedicated police team initiated a search operation, leading to the successful rescue of the newborn. One woman has been detained in connection with the incident, while further investigation and interrogation are underway.
