New Delhi, March 17: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and New Zealand’s Prime Minister Christopher Luxon visited the Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib in New Delhi, where they paid their respects. Luxon, who arrived in India on Sunday for a five-day official visit, is in the country to attend the Raisina Dialogue 2025, India's premier conference on geopolitics and geoeconomics.
Earlier in the day, the two leaders held a bilateral meeting at Hyderabad House, where they reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and addressing global challenges. Following the meeting, PM Modi addressed the media, highlighting shared concerns over terrorism, which has impacted both nations. Modi cited the devastating terrorist attacks in Christchurch in 2019 and the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, stressing that terrorism in all its forms is unacceptable. He called for decisive action against the perpetrators and separatist elements, underlining the importance of joint efforts to combat terrorism and violent extremism through both bilateral and multilateral platforms.
The bilateral discussions also focused on economic cooperation, expanding trade, and regional security. In a significant development, the two leaders announced negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between India and New Zealand.
PM Modi expressed his delight in welcoming Prime Minister Luxon, describing him as "a youthful, dynamic, and energetic leader." He also expressed immense joy at having Luxon as the Chief Guest at the Raisina Dialogue.
At the Raisina Dialogue, Luxon emphasized the long-standing relationship between India and New Zealand, noting the shared history of over two centuries.
