Bhubaneswar, June 4: Rail Coach Restaurants at Khurda Road, Puri, Rayagada, Titilagarh, Muniguda and Hirakud stations have generated Rs 1,36,60,369 in revenue while enhancing station ambience, promoting tourism and creating local employment, said an official release on Thursday.
According to an East Coast Railway (ECoR) statement, the ECoR has registered impressive growth in Non-Fare Revenue (NFR) through innovative utilisation of railway assets across its network marking a significant stride towards financial sustainability and customer centric development.
“Among the most visible initiatives are Rail Coach Restaurants at Khurda Road, Puri, Rayagada, Titilagarh, Muniguda and Hirakud stations. These creatively redesigned coaches have emerged as popular dining destinations, generating Rs 1,36,60,369 in revenue while enhancing station ambience, promoting tourism and creating local employment,” it stated.
Similarly, passenger oriented logistics services also contributed significantly, with two-wheeler packing contracts at Talcher, Berhampur, Bhubaneswar and Sambalpur stations, generating Rs 35,48,606 revenue by providing secure and convenient transportation solutions for passengers. Wagon cleaning contracts at Angul BOXN Shed and Sarla generated Rs 74,45,455, while also supporting improved freight operations, asset maintenance and cleaner railway infrastructure.
Land licensing initiatives contributed Rs 69.35 lakh to non-fare earnings, including Rs 61 lakh from cargo related land licensing at Jagdalpur, Rs 6.85 lakh from land licensing for coal stacking and loading activities at Handapa, and Rs 1.50 lakh from leasing of a railway pond at Bargarh Road station under Sambalpur Division.
The growth in Non-Fare Revenue highlights East Coast Railway’s strategic focus on asset monetisation, innovation and efficient resource management, said the ECoR.
