Bhubaneswar, Sep 2: Odisha has achieved another significant milestone in the field of medical education, with two more government medical colleges receiving approval for MBBS admissions.
The National Medical Commission (NMC) has approved 200 MBBS seats—100 each for Phulbani Government Medical College and Pabitra Mohan Pradhan Government Medical College, Talcher.
These newly sanctioned colleges will begin their academic sessions from 2025–26, marking a major boost in medical education capacity across the state.
Welcoming this development, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi stated, “This is a proud moment for Odisha. With over 200 additional MBBS seats, we are making a significant stride in healthcare education. From this academic year itself, more than 200 Odia students will have the opportunity to pursue medical education and serve the people.”
The Chief Minister highlighted the government's continued commitment to improving health services and medical education since assuming office.
He emphasized that this approval validates the state government's relentless efforts in strengthening the healthcare infrastructure and producing more qualified doctors.
