Parida urges MLAs to support development of Anganwadi centres

Bhubaneswar, May 8:  Deputy Chief Minister and Women & Child Development Minister Pravati Parida has written to all MLAs in Odisha, urging them to actively support the construction and to ensure timely completion and maintenance of quality standards of Anganwadi centres in their respective constituencies.

In her letter, Parida emphasized the need to further strengthen women and child development initiatives in the state through collective efforts and active participation of public representatives.

She particularly stressed ensuring women’s participation in the ongoing developmental works at the constituency level.

Parida noted that the development of Anganwadi infrastructure is crucial for strengthening grassroots-level services related to child care, nutrition, and women’s welfare across the state.

It is noteworthy that during the financial years 2024–25 and 2025–26, a total of 3,293 new Anganwadi Centre (AWC) buildings were inaugurated and handed over under the Anganwadi Centre infrastructure strengthening initiative.

Additionally, 12,140 Anganwadi Centres across Odisha have been transformed into Saksham Anganwadis under the ICDS scheme.
