His body was flown in from Delhi via Air India flight 1114, which landed at the Biju Patnaik International Airport around 12:10 am. Prashant's wife and son, who were accompanying him during the trip, also returned on the same flight. Many dignitaries gathered at the airport to pay their final respects to Prashant, who was working as an accountant at the Central Institute of Plastic Engineering and Technology in Bamapada.
Commissionerate Police made special arrangements to honour Prashant’s memory upon his arrival at the airport.
Meanwhile, a team from the Balasore district administration, led by an additional tahasildar, reached Bhubaneswar to receive the body and ensure the smooth conduct of his last rites in his native village, Ishani, in the Remuna area of Balasore district.
Prashant, along with his wife and son, had gone on a family tour to Jammu and Kashmir when the attack occurred. He was among 28 tourists who fell victim to the brutal terrorist ambush at Pahalgam yesterday afternoon.
