New Delhi, Aug 14: A total of 1,090 personnel from the Police, Fire Services, Home Guard and Civil Defence (HG&CD), and Correctional Services have been conferred Gallantry and Service Medals on the occasion of Independence Day 2025, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) announced.
According to the MHA, 233 personnel have been awarded the Medal for Gallantry (GM), 99 personnel received the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM), and 758 personnel were honoured with the Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM).
Of the 233 Gallantry Medals, 226 were awarded to Police personnel, six to Fire Service personnel, and one to a Home Guard and Civil Defence member.
In the PSM category, 89 awards went to Police Service, five to Fire Service, three to Civil Defence & Home Guard Service, and two to Correctional Service.
Among the 758 MSM recipients, 635 were from the Police Service, 51 from Fire Service, 41 from Civil Defence & Home Guard Service, and 31 from Correctional Service.The awards recognise exceptional courage, dedication, and meritorious service across the country’s security and emergency response forces.
