Berhampur, April 28: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced on Sunday that an investment worth Rs 1 lakh crore will be brought to Ganjam district, which will create employment opportunities for over one lakh people through industrial units to be established in the region.
Majhi made this announcement after visiting the Budhi Thakurani temple, where he offered prayers and observed the "tiger dance" performed by local artists. The 25-day Budhi Thakurani Yatra, a prominent festival in the region, is set to conclude on Monday.
Speaking at the centenary celebration of the Upper Primary School in Bhimpur, located in Ganjam district’s Patrapur block, the CM also addressed the implementation of the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020. He criticized the previous government for not implementing the policy due to political reasons, claiming that the current government took the initiative to implement it to benefit students across the state.
Majhi emphasized that the NEP will bring about a transformation in the country’s education system and announced that Shishu Vatika, a pre-primary teaching unit, would be established in every primary school under the new policy this year. Additionally, the government is introducing the Godabarish Mishra Model Primary School, which aims to provide modern infrastructure and facilities in every panchayat, staffed with experienced, trained teachers.
The Chief Minister also highlighted efforts to reduce the dropout rate among tribal students and informed that the government has allocated over ₹3100 crore in the current budget to enhance school education in Odisha.
