Jajpur, Sept 29: Odisha Vigilance on Tuesday seized Rs 5.15 lakh in cash from the residence of an Assistant Engineer of Badachana block in Jajpur district in connection with an alleged bribery case.

Assistant Engineer Bandita Dash and her associate were arrested on Monday night for allegedly accepting a Rs 35,000 bribe from an executant for clearing pending bills.

Following the arrests, Vigilance officials launched simultaneous searches at multiple locations on suspicion of possession of assets disproportionate to known sources of income.

During the searches, officials recovered Rs 5,15,200 from Dash’s residence near Jenamani Mandap in Jagatpur, Cuttack.

The cash was subsequently seized.

The searches were still underway.
