Odisha: Two sentenced to life for rape and robbery case

Baripada, Aug 31: The Fast Track Special Court in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Friday sentenced two persons to life imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 25,000 each after convicting them of raping a woman during a robbery in 2018.

Two other accused were yet to be arrested.

According to the report, four individuals committed a robbery On September 8, 2018 at a house in a village under the Baisinga police station. During the crime, they threatened to kill a 7-year-old boy in order to sexually assault a woman. The assailants also took photographs of the assault with their mobile phones.

The verdict was delivered based on the testimony of 10 witnesses and various documents, according to Special Public Prosecutor Manaranjan Pattnaik.
