Bhubaneswar, Sept 2: Odisha vehicle owners and drivers have received major relief as the state government has reduced fines for PUCC (Pollution Under Control Certificate) violations. The penalty, which was earlier fixed at ₹10,000 since 2019, has now been reduced to ₹1,000–₹6,000, depending on the type of vehicle and repeat offence.
Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena also announced that vehicles with e-challan dues pending for more than 90 days will not be eligible for PUCC certification.
New PUCC Fine Structure:
Motorcycles: ₹1,000 for the first offence; ₹2,000 for the second.
Three-wheelers: ₹1,000 for the first offence; ₹2,000 for the second.
Motor cabs: ₹2,000 for the first offence; ₹5,000 for the second.
Cars and jeeps: ₹2,000 for the first offence; ₹5,000 for the second.
Tractors and trailers: ₹2,000 for the first offence; ₹5,000 for the second.
Other vehicles: ₹3,000 for the first offence; ₹6,000 for the second.
Pending e-challans: PUCC will not be issued if an e-challan remains unpaid for more than 90 days.
