Cuttack, Oct 4: The Cuttack DCP office has released photos of two prisoners who escaped from Choudwar Circle Jail late last night. Authorities are urging the public to come forward with any information about the escapees, promising confidentiality for the informants.

A reward of ₹50,000 has been announced for any accurate information that leads to their capture.

In response to the escape, Odisha’s Jail Director General (DG) has suspended two warders, including the chief warder, for their alleged role in the security lapse.

The escape took place during a cultural event held in the jail for the Dussehra celebrations, when staff members were preoccupied with the festivities. It is believed the prisoners took advantage of the distraction, scaling the jail wall to make their escape. The incident has raised serious concerns over the security measures in place at jails in Odisha, highlighting a significant breach in the system.

Authorities are continuing their efforts to track down the fugitives.
