Delhi, August 11: Odisha MP Dr. Sasmit Patra on Monday demanded to constitute a Joint Parliamentary Committee(JPC) to scrutinize the FCRA Bill, introduced in the Lok Sabha.
Underlining the submissions of delegations from various communities who met the government over the FCRA Bill, Dr. Patra urged the government to examine the law properly and address the concerns involved in it.
Taking to X, Dr. Patra said, "The Christian community and various communities and denominations from within the Christian community have met the government over the last few days and have been demanding a joint parliamentary committee for the FCRA bill. There are serious concerns, and these concerns have to be addressed only through a joint parliamentary committee. Rushing and passing the FCRA Bill will not serve the purpose of the FCRA Bill and will not assuage the feelings of the minority community, the Christian community. Therefore, I also demand a joint parliamentary committee to scrutinise the FCRA bill."
