Bhubaneswar, Feb 24: The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based cameras at examination centers have significantly aided in the smooth administration of this year's Matric exams, enabling the detection of numerous irregularities across the state.
In response to irregularities observed during the Matric examination at Saharapada High School, the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) took action by transferring the Centre Superintendent.
Following the detection of irregularities by AI cameras during the Class X board exam at Saharapada, the Keonjhar District Education Officer initiated disciplinary measures against the Centre Superintendent.
Furthermore, during the English exam at Hatadihi School in Keonjhar, examinees were observed conversing with each other in the presence of the invigilator on Friday. As a result, the Hatadihi Centre Superintendent's transfer has been recommended as a precautionary measure.
Sources said that the BSE is conducting High School Certificate (HSC) examinations statewide and has deployed 600 AI-powered cameras to deter malpractice during the exams.
Data from BSE sources reveal over 40 instances of malpractice identified through the implementation of AI cameras. Concerned by these findings, the board has instructed District Education Officers (DEO) to take disciplinary action against invigilators and centre superintendents found neglecting their duties during examinations.
Similar incidents have been reported in districts such as Gajapati, Nabarangpur, Bhadrak, and Jajpur, underscoring the need for stringent measures to uphold the integrity of the examination process.
