Rayagada, May 4: In a gory incident, a man was brutally murdered by his neighbour in Padmapur area of Odisha’s Rayagada district on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Chaitanya Sabar and the incident has been reported from Saura Bikrampur village under Padmapur police limits in the district.
The accused, identified as Panda Sabar of the village, surrendered himself before Padmapur police station after committing the crime.
As per reports, the incident happened around noon while Chaitanya Sabar was sitting with his family. Panda Sabar and his son allegedly attacked him with an axe, leading to his death.
Though the exact reason behind the murder is still unknown, it is suspected that the gruesome killing might be fallout of past enmity.
Upon getting the information, police arrived at the scene and seized the body. Subsequently, it was sent for post-mortem.
An investigation has been initiated into the matter and a scientific team has been sent to the spot to collect evidence, said the police.
