Odisha Health Minister visits singer Abhijit Majumdar at AIIMS Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, September 7: Health and Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling on Sunday evening visited noted music director and singer Abhijit Majumdar, who remains in critical condition at AIIMS Bhubaneswar.

Briefing the media, Mahaling said Majumdar’s vital organs, including the liver and kidneys, are functioning normally, though he has not regained his speech. “The medical team is closely monitoring him and strictly following treatment protocols. If necessary, consultations will be held with AIIMS Delhi specialists,” he added.

The minister further stated that Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has assured full financial support for Majumdar’s treatment. “A team of doctors from AIIMS Bhubaneswar, along with experts from AIIMS Delhi, will review his case tomorrow to assess whether shifting him to Delhi is required,” Mahaling said.

He also noted signs of improvement, mentioning that Majumdar’s urination has normalised and organ functions remain stable.

Mahaling was accompanied by Bhubaneswar (Ekamra) MLA Babu Singh and actor Sritam Das during his hospital visit.

Majumdar was admitted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar on September 4 after his health worsened following treatment at a private hospital in Cuttack. He slipped into a coma and is currently on ventilator support in the Central ICU under the General Medicine department. The popular singer-composer has been battling hypertension, hyperthyroidism, liver complications, pneumonia, and severe lung infections.
