Bhubaneswar/Jharsuguda, September 27: Prime Minister Narendra Modi was felicitated by Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi during his visit to Jharsuguda on Saturday. The Prime Minister's visit marked the inauguration and foundation-laying of several major development projects worth over Rs 60,000 crore in the state.
During the event, Chief Minister Majhi commended the government's strong response to the Pakistan-based terrorists following the Pahalgam massacre, noting the shift in India's strategic approach. "Since we formed the government, you have visited Odisha seven times. Last year, on your birthday, you launched the Subhadra Yojana for our mothers and sisters. Today, over one crore women are receiving Rs 10,000 annually through this initiative," Majhi stated, emphasizing the ongoing positive impact of the scheme.
Among the key highlights of the Prime Minister's visit was the inauguration of a wide array of projects in various sectors, including telecommunications, railways, education, healthcare, skill development, and rural housing.
Notably, the Prime Minister launched over 97,500 4G mobile towers built using indigenous technology at a cost of approximately Rs 37,000 crore. This includes more than 92,600 4G sites commissioned by BSNL and over 18,900 4G sites funded through the Digital Bharat Nidhi. These projects aim to connect nearly 26,700 remote, border, and LWE-affected villages, providing connectivity to over 20 lakh new subscribers. Powered by solar energy, these towers represent the largest cluster of green telecom infrastructure in India.
In the railway sector, PM Modi laid the foundation stone for the Rail Flyover at Sambalpur-Sarla and dedicated several vital projects to the nation, including the doubling of the Koraput-Baiguda line and the Manabar-Koraput-Gorapur line, all of which are expected to enhance regional connectivity and promote economic growth.
