Sambalpur, Feb 20: Sending shockwaves through the Sambalpur University community, a female student from the university was found in a blood-soaked state inside an abandoned house early this morning.

According to eyewitnesses, the student was lured to a tea stall approximately 300 meters from the university by an acquaintance where she was allegedly attacked by a group of 15 individuals. The incident took place around midnight.

She sustained severe head injuries, reportedly from being struck with stones.

Upon getting the information, police arrived at the scene and rescued the student. Subsequently, she was rushed to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences for treatment. A CT scan was conducted due to the severity of her head injuries. She is currently undergoing treatment.

Meanwhile, authorities have launched a search operation across multiple locations. While the exact motive remains unclear, initial suspicions suggest that the student was deliberately targeted.

The incident has sparked outrage within the university community, with students demanding swift action against those responsible.
