Odisha doctors threaten mass resignation over unmet demands

G. Udaygiri, May 2: Residents of Ward 8 in the G. Udaygiri area have submitted a written memorandum to the District Collector highlighting serious issues at the local G. Udaygiri Health Center. The submission was led by Ward Councilor Jakesh Pradhan on behalf of the community.

According to the residents, the health center serves over 50,000 people, ranging from children to the elderly. However, due to a shortage of specialist doctors, many patients face difficulties accessing timely and proper medical care. Some patients have reportedly suffered fatalities due to the lack of adequate treatment.

The memorandum specifically requests:

  1. Appointment of specialist doctors in the Women & Maternity, Pediatrics, and Medicine departments.
  2. Installation of an ultrasound facility to improve diagnostic services at the health center.

Residents have stated that if their demands are not addressed within one month, they will escalate the issue through public agitation on the main roads, emphasizing that these steps are necessary to safeguard lives in the region.
