Bhubaneswar, Jan 1: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will lay the foundation stone for the much-awaited Bhubaneswar Metro project today.
CM Naveen unveiled the project during Odisha Diwas on April 1, 2023. The Government has green lit the Detailed Project Report.
After reviewing the project, he approved the Detailed Project Report (DPR), emphasizing its significance as a major landmark project for Odisha.
In a recent statement, the CM highlighted the status of Phase-1 of the Bhubaneswar Metro Rail project, set to be implemented under the 5T initiative. This endeavor is poised to make Bhubaneswar one of the few cities in the country with a metro rail system.
The CM expressed enthusiasm, stating, "This project will fortify public transport in the city, fostering economic growth. Bhubaneswar, renowned for various urban initiatives, is evolving into a city with an enhanced quality of life. I am confident that this mega project will elevate Bhubaneswar to the status of a premier livable city in the country."
The Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Corporation has entered into an agreement with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation for the construction of Phase-I, spanning from Bhubaneswar Airport to Trisulia in Cuttack. With a monumental investment of Rs 6255 crore, this project stands as the single largest investment in any infrastructure endeavor in Odisha.
