Bhubaneswar, July 1: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday extended heartfelt greetings to the people of Odisha on the occasion of ‘Sambalpuri Day’ and the birth anniversary of Guru Satyanarayan Bohidar, highlighting the rich cultural heritage of western Odisha.

In his message, the Chief Minister said Sambalpuri language, culture, folk art, folk songs, dance, handicrafts and traditions are a matter of pride and identity for the people of Odisha. He noted that this rich heritage has, for generations, strengthened the spirit of unity and helped create Odisha's unique identity across the world.

"On the occasion of Sambalpuri Day and Guru Satyanarayan Bohidar's birth anniversary, I extend my heartfelt greetings and best wishes to everyone. Our Sambalpuri language, culture, folk art, folk songs, dance, handicrafts and traditions are our pride and identity. This rich heritage has united generations and given Odisha a distinct identity globally. Let us all pledge to preserve and enrich our heritage, our pride and our identity," Majhi said.

 

Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida also greeted the people on the occasion, extending her warm wishes and congratulations to all on Sambalpuri Day.

 

Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo likewise conveyed his greetings, saying, "I extend my heartfelt greetings and best wishes to everyone on the occasion of Sambalpuri Day." He concluded his message with an invocation of "Jai Maa Samalei."

 

Sambalpuri Day is observed every year to celebrate the language, literature and cultural traditions of western Odisha while commemorating the birth anniversary of Guru Satyanarayan Bohidar, who is widely regarded as one of the pioneers of the Sambalpuri language movement.
