The decision is expected to benefit in-charge principals serving in approximately 641 private aided colleges under the 488 and 662 categories across Odisha.

The initiative aims to encourage college teachers to take up the responsibility of serving as principals, particularly in colleges located in distant and remote areas.

According to the approved proposal, principals posted within their home district or in developed urban areas will receive a monthly incentive of ₹5,000. Those posted outside their home district will be entitled to ₹7,000 per month. Principals posted at locations more than 300 kilometres away from their home or home district will receive ₹9,000 per month. Meanwhile, those serving in geographically distant and remote areas will be eligible for the highest incentive of ₹10,000 per month.
