New Delhi, Nov 5: Odisha has received Rs 4,819 crore as part of the Centre's latest tax devolution to states, with the Union government advancing the regular monthly instalment by five days to facilitate higher spending on development and welfare activities ahead of the festive season.
The Centre released a total of Rs 1.09 lakh crore to all 28 states on November 5, instead of the originally scheduled date of November 10, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Finance on Thursday.
The advance disbursement is intended to help state governments accelerate capital expenditure and meet development and welfare-related spending requirements during the festive period.
“The monthly instalment normally released on 10th November 2026 has been advanced and released on 5th November 2026, in view of festive season,” the ministry said.
Odisha's allocation of Rs 4,819 crore places it among the states receiving substantial transfers under the latest instalment. However, it is lower than the allocations to several larger states, including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh.
