Bhubaneswar, Nov 18: The subsidized meal priced at Rs 5 will be accessible during the night at two Aahaar centers located at AIIMS-Bhubaneswar, catering to both patients and attendants. The subsidized meal initiative was inaugurated by BMC Mayor Sulochana Das. These centers, situated near major hospitals, will prepare approximately 400 meals each day. Across five such centers, meals are offered twice daily in proximity to key hospitals, with two centers near AIIMS-Bhubaneswar producing 750 meals daily. The introduction of the night meal system at these two centers is aimed at benefiting patients arriving at hospitals from both within and outside the State. Consumers have expressed appreciation for the affordable and nutritious food provided by the Odisha government, particularly emphasizing its positive impact on the well-being of economically disadvantaged patients and attendants.

Sources said, a total of 11 Aahaar centers are currently operational, with three of them previously offering night meals. The overall daily meal production in these food centers was 9,000, but with the addition of the two new centers, the daily meal count is now estimated to range between 9,000 and 10,000.
