Berhampur, May 18: An Odia youth from Ganjam district tragically lost his life in a drone strike in Ukraine amid the ongoing Russia‑Ukraine conflict

The deceased, A. Rameya of Madhabandh village under Chikiti block, had travelled to Russia a month ago for work. Reports indicate that Rameya was caught in a Ukrainian drone attack while working in a conflict zone, shocking his family and the local community

Ganjam District Collector V. Keerthi Vasan confirmed the death and stated that communication with the Indian Embassy is underway to facilitate the repatriation of Rameya’s body. Officials noted that he had been employed in Russia for only a few weeks before the incident.

The district administration is coordinating with the Ministry of External Affairs to expedite the process of bringing his remains back to Odisha. The Collector assured that all necessary support and assistance will be provided to the bereaved family during this difficult time.
