Bhubaneswar, July 18: A new Odia film titled ‘Indradhanu’ (Rainbow) is set to release this Friday across 12 theatres in Odisha, including three multiplexes in the capital city, Bhubaneswar. The film presents a unique cinematic experience, portraying seven short stories inspired by the symbolic and emotional significance of the seven colors of the rainbow.

Each story in Indradhanu represents one color, with themes ranging from love and desire to faith, hope, fear, expectation, and emptiness. The narrative begins with the violet shade of a rose and ends with a red-hued sunset, traversing through stories that reflect trust, dreams, and heartbreak.
The film marks the directorial debut of Arjun Samantaray, who has also handled cinematography and editing. It is based on a concept by young writer Suryasnata Tripathy, who also serves as one of the co-producers alongside Surabhi Pattnaik. The film is produced by renowned cine personality Rajendra Mohanty.
The screenplay has contributions from writers Nikhilesh Mishra, Saroj Bal, Badal Mohanty, and Suryasnata Tripathy. The music is composed by Anurag Pattnaik, with the title track written by Debadas Chhotoray and performed by Susmita Das and Ratikanta Satapathy, set to music by veteran composer Om Prakash Mohanty.
The ensemble cast includes Chaudhary Bikash Das, Deepanwita Dashmahapatra, Smita Mohanty, Ramakanta Mishra, Bhaswati Basu, Debadatta Pati, Abhishek Giri, Dharitri Khandual, Sudhashree Madhusmita, Rinku Pradhan, Soumya Ranjan, Samarpita, Dishaanee Debanjanaa, Sagar Sharangi, Amisha Mohanty, Rupashree, among others.
Departing from mainstream formats, Indradhanu blends elements of literature and visual storytelling, offering an experimental narrative structure aimed at engaging modern audiences. The filmmakers describe it as a creative attempt to move beyond traditional cinematic norms and reflect deeper emotional and psychological themes.
