Cuttack, Jul 18: Ravenshaw University in Cuttack issued a notification on Friday that restricted female faculty, staff, and students from staying on campus after 5:30 pm. The decision sparked controversy but was quickly withdrawn by university authorities.
The initial order, issued by the Registrar of the university, stated that no female members of the faculty, staff, or student body would be allowed on campus or in workspaces after 5:30 pm.
The directive was intended to remain in place until a formal Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) could be created, outlining new guidelines for work hours and safety measures.
However, within hours of the announcement, the university retracted the order. A public relations statement later clarified that the directive was no longer in effect and that a new order would be issued soon with revised guidelines.
The university has not yet provided further details on what the new SOP will include.
