Cuttack, Ap 8: Notorious Criminal Raja Sahani has been placed under a 7-day police remand by the JMFC Court, Cuttack, at the request of Karnataka police. He is being interrogated in connection with a gold and diamond jewelry heist worth ₹20 crore, with the remand running from 9th to 15th April.
Sahani previously escaped police custody in February during the apprehension of Madhukant Rana in Vrindavan. After fleeing, he led a gang in a 6-minute armed robbery at a jewelry store in Hunsur, Karnataka, on 28th December 2025, stealing 8 kg of gold and diamonds.
He is among the most wanted criminals in Odisha, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, facing over 28 criminal cases including murder, dacoity, bank robberies, and jewelry heists. His criminal syndicate reportedly involved around 2,000 operatives.
Sahani was eventually tracked down in Uttarakhand while walking with his girlfriend and arrested by the Special Squad. He had frequently changed locations and avoided using phones, complicating efforts to locate him.
He is now expected to be lodged in a special cell at Choudwar Jail under CCTV surveillance, as requested by jail authorities.
