Keonjhar, Sept 9: In a major breakthrough, Keonjhar Sadar Police has arrested dreaded criminal Prabhat Mallik, who is allegedly involved in over 100 criminal cases across the district and the state. Along with him, four of his associates have also been taken into custody in connection with a recent dacoity incident.
The arrest was made following a complaint lodged at the Sadar Police Station on September 7, after a gang of miscreants allegedly broke into the house of Urmila Chaudhury in the Yogimatha area, stealing 3 tolas of gold and ₹15,000 in cash.
Acting swiftly, Sadar Police formed a special team and conducted raids at various locations. The operation led to the arrest of Prabhat Mallik from Gambharia village along with three others. During the raid, police seized ₹1,32,500 in cash, a Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle, a Yamaha bike, and four mobile phones from the accused.
Speaking to the media, Sadar Police Inspector Amit Kumar Bhuyan confirmed the arrests and stated that all the accused have been forwarded to court under case number 520/25.
The police have termed the arrest as a major success in their ongoing efforts to curb rising criminal activities in the region.
