Bhubaneswar, July 24: Odisha Food Supply and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra on Wednesday said that new ration cards are likely to be issued to families who have applied for them within a month.
He further added that the state government has already initiated the process.
As per reports, a total of 619,836 families in the state have applied for ration cards so far, with more applications expected.
The Minister emphasized that departmental authorities have been instructed to exclude ineligible beneficiaries from the list. The government has established 12 guidelines for the inclusion of eligible beneficiaries and 10 guidelines for the exclusion of ineligible ones.
To ensure transparency, e-KYC audits will be conducted to verify the information provided by the beneficiaries. Once these audits are completed, ration cards will be distributed to the new beneficiaries.
While over six lakh families have applied for ration cards to date, the Minister reiterated that only eligible beneficiaries will receive them.
