Puri, Nov 12: The recent rerouting of traffic away from the Pipili market along NH-316 has adversely affected the sales of the region's renowned crafts, posing a significant threat to the livelihoods of local artisans. To address this issue and protect the cultural and economic vitality of Pipili and the nearby village of Raghurajpur, strategic interventions are urgently needed.
Proposals to establish dedicated vending zones, collective shops, and drive-in facilities along the Bhubaneswar-Puri corridor aim to provide artisans with direct access to tourists and travelers. These hubs will not only facilitate sales but also enhance visitor engagement by offering rest areas and interactive experiences that highlight the area’s rich artistic heritage.
Moreover, promoting online sales platforms and incorporating cultural workshops at these new hubs will further increase the visibility of Pipili's crafts, fostering a sustainable economic model for local artisans. This initiative aims to harmonize traditional craftsmanship with modern tourism, ensuring that the cultural identity of the region is preserved while revitalizing its charm and significance in the contemporary marketplace.
