Bhubaneswar, June 11: Odisha Police has stepped up security preparations ahead of President Droupadi Murmu’s scheduled visit to Mayurbhanj district on June 19 and 20. Stringent law-and-order measures, including intensified border checks and patrolling, will be enforced during the President’s two-day tour.
The security arrangements were reviewed at a high-level meeting chaired by the Director General of Police (DGP) at the State Police Headquarters in Buxi Bazar, Cuttack. Senior IPS officers attended the meeting and discussed the deployment strategy for the President’s visit.
According to police officials, traffic management will be tightened on major roads across Mayurbhanj, while Special Operations Group (SOG) personnel, striking forces and K-9 squads will be deployed at programme venues. Additional CCTV cameras and drone surveillance systems will also be installed to strengthen security monitoring.
Security has been heightened along Mayurbhanj’s borders with neighbouring states, with police directed to intensify naka checking and patrolling operations. The DGP also instructed the Mayurbhanj Superintendent of Police to conduct regular inspections of hotels, lodges and other accommodation facilities as part of the security protocol.
The review meeting was attended by Crime Branch DG Binaytosh Mishra, Intelligence Director R.P. Koche, ADG (Modernisation) Soumendra Kumar Priyadarshi, ADG Railways and Coastal Security Arun Bothra, ADG Law and Order Sanjay Kumar, Transport Commissioner Amitabh Thakur, Police Commissioner S. Dev Datta Singh and SAP ADG Rajesh Kumar. Eastern Range DIG Pinak Mishra and Mayurbhanj SP Varun Guntupalli joined the meeting through video conferencing.
