Bhubaneswar, Feb 13: BJD President Naveen Patnaik urged his party's MLAs to be the voice of Odisha's 4.5 crore people during the upcoming Assembly session.
At a BJD legislature party meeting before the Budget session, Patnaik criticized the BJP government, accusing it of “incompetence” and “irresponsibility,” although he did not directly name the ruling party. He emphasized that leaders who indulge in self-praise and blame others demonstrate poor governance and leadership.
Patnaik instructed BJD MLAs to raise the issues affecting the people of Odisha in the Assembly, particularly highlighting the government's alleged failure to safeguard the state's interests despite the so-called "double engine" administration, which involves both the central and state BJP governments.
Though the "double engine" government has been in power in Odisha for eight months, Patnaik claimed its actions and vision do not reflect a commitment to protecting the state and its citizens. He reaffirmed that, as a responsible opposition party, BJD will strongly voice its concerns in the Assembly to safeguard the interests of Odisha and its people.
Patnaik later took to X, saying, "Biju Janata Dal will fight for the rights of the people of Odisha. I attended the legislature party meeting of @bjd_odisha before the budget session of the assembly. I advised everyone to make the voice of the people in the assembly. #BJDWithOdisha."
The meeting was attended by senior BJD leaders, including deputy leader Prasanna Acharya, Opposition Chief Whip Pramilla Mallik, and other party lawmakers.
