Mathura, June 8: A gang of women involved in stealing from female devotees at temples in Mathura has been busted following a major police operation. The crackdown came after a gold mangalsutra belonging to an Additional District and Sessions Judge from Madhya Pradesh was stolen.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shlok Kumar, the incident occurred on June 1, when Prema Sahu, a judge posted in Ujjain, was visiting the Thakur Shri Radharaman Temple in Vrindavan with her family. During the visit, her gold mangalsutra was reportedly snatched by members of the gang.
Acting swiftly on the complaint, police launched an investigation and apprehended ten women believed to be part of the theft syndicate operating around religious places in the area. Authorities are continuing inquiries to determine the full extent of the gang's activities.
