Bhubaneswar, April 12: The Commissionerate Police has held a man for allegedly duping of Rs 18 crore from the MD of a construction company in Bhubaneswar.
The accused has been identified as Prateep Kumar Kar, who was working as an account in the builder firm.
Based on the complaint of Nanda Kishore Behera, MD of the Jagannathdham Superstructure Pvt. Ltd the Nayapalli Police has apprehended Kar who was on the run from 2020.
According to the complaint, Prateep Kumar Kar and three others had allegedly embezzled Rs 18 crore of the Jagannathdham Superstructure Pvt. Ltd. They had transferred Rs 13 crore to the account of a parallel Construction Company namely Jayed Superstructure while the rest Rs 5 crore were transferred to their personal accounts.
On being informed regarding the illegal financial irregularities, MD Behera lodged a complaint with the police. Acting on it, the Nayapalli Police in December 20 had arrested one Prabhas Chandra Mishra and his aide Rudra Das whereas Prateep had fled from the police.
Meanwhile, on executing a warrant of the Orissa High Court, the Nayapalli Police arrested Prateep on April 7.
Following essential interrogation in connection with the fraudulent transactions, Prateep was sent to judicial custody.
Another wanted in connection with the case, identified as Loknath Suryanarayan Mishra is yet to be nabbed, said police.
