Puri, April 22: Police have arrested a man for allegedly sending threatening messages on social media, warning of bomb attacks on temples and targeting several prominent individuals. The accused, identified as Prateek Mishra from the Mangala Ghat area of Puri, has been produced before a court, informed Puri SP Prateek Singh during a press briefing.

According to police, over the past few days, multiple threatening messages were sent from different phone numbers to various individuals and temples in Puri. Taking the matter seriously, police registered cases at different police stations and launched an investigation. Based on technical evidence, Mishra was traced and arrested from Angul.

Police have seized two mobile phones from the accused. During interrogation, it was revealed that he used multiple SIM cards to evade detection. Preliminary investigation suggests that Mishra carried out these acts to frame a woman with whom he was reportedly in a relationship.

Police further stated that the accused has a criminal history and had previously been jailed for issuing similar threats, including a bomb scare at the Shree Jagannath Temple and threats to a Rajya Sabha MP.
