The event was held to showcase how Odisha can make its mark on the global stage in the field of agriculture. The farmers expressed that this recognition has motivated them to work harder in farming.

Farmers are the backbone of the country's economy. When they thrive, the country thrives. With this in mind, the "Giving Back to Society" initiative was implemented to honor farmers through the Krisak Ratna Samman. SOA Vice-President Dr. Shaswati Das attended as a guest and appreciated the contributions of the farmers, urging the younger generation to take an interest in agriculture instead of solely focusing on careers in other fields.

The Chief Guest of the event was Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singhdeo, who stated that education and research are key to encouraging farmers. He mentioned that the government is running various schemes for the benefit of farmers, offering financial assistance through both state and central governments.

In the past year and a half, the state has also been successful in exporting produce such as vegetables and fruits to international markets, including Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Singhdeo emphasized that with proper willpower and the adoption of organic farming, farmers can succeed. He highlighted the government’s efforts to promote farming practices, adding that 10 of the best farmers from across the state were honored during the event.

The Institute of Agricultural Sciences, SOA University, also plays a crucial role in creating new opportunities for farmers through education and research. The institution is focusing on improving farming systems through the use of new technology. It is actively searching for skilled farmers from across the state to enhance agricultural productivity.

Awarded farmers expressed that the Krisak Ratna Samman has taught them that farming is not just confined to the land but that they are also entitled to recognition. They are also determined to encourage the younger generation to take up farming in the future.
