Baripada, Sept 30: The famous Maa Kichakeswari Temple at Khiching in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district is set to undergo a major transformation, with ₹44.91 crore sanctioned for its development under the Central Government’s PRASAD (Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual, Heritage Augmentation Drive) scheme.
The project aims to significantly improve the temple complex and its surrounding areas by introducing modern, world-class tourism infrastructure and better facilities for pilgrims and visitors.
As part of the development initiative, the temple premises are expected to receive upgraded amenities designed to enhance the overall visitor experience while preserving the site’s religious and cultural significance.
The initiative is in line with the Union Government’s focus on developing major religious and cultural destinations and preserving India’s rich spiritual and cultural heritage.
The development of the Maa Kichakeswari Temple is also expected to give a boost to religious tourism in Mayurbhanj, while creating new opportunities for tourism-related activities and contributing to the local economy.
Located in Khiching, the historic temple is an important religious and cultural landmark of the region. The proposed development is expected to further strengthen its position as a prominent pilgrimage and tourist destination in Odisha.
