Bhubaneswar, September 16:Two people, including a young man and a woman, were killed in separate lightning strikes in Anandapur area of Odisha’s Kendujhar district on Wednesday, police said.

The first incident occurred in Padmapur village under Anandapur police station limits, where Papu Sahu was struck by lightning while heading to an agricultural field for work. He died on the spot.

In a separate incident, Sabita Barik of Kantipal village was struck by lightning after she stepped out to the doorway of her house. She died in the incident.

The two deaths have cast a pall of gloom over the Anandapur area, leaving the bereaved families and local residents mourning.
