Nayagarh, May 2: Former SDPO of Khandapada in Nayagarh district, Madan Mohan Pradhan, has been suspended by the Home Department following serious allegations of misconduct involving a woman from the Fatehgarh police station area.
According to reports, the woman accused Pradhan of making obscene remarks through phone calls and WhatsApp messages. She filed a complaint at the local police station and also approached the Director General of Police (DGP) and the State Women’s Commission. Acting on the complaint, authorities had earlier transferred Pradhan to the district headquarters before placing him under suspension.
The allegations state that Pradhan, under the pretext of resolving an old case registered at Fatehgarh police station, repeatedly summoned the woman to his office and allegedly attempted to coerce her into a personal relationship. He is also accused of exerting mental pressure and threatening to implicate her husband in a case. The complaint further alleges that he demanded obscene photographs and pressured her to engage in a physical relationship.
The woman has reportedly submitted an audio clip as evidence, in which Pradhan is allegedly heard making inappropriate suggestions, including asking her to visit him at night and questioning her about maintaining a relationship.
Despite her repeated objections and attempts to avoid contact, the accused officer allegedly continued his actions. Following her complaint to senior authorities, including the DGP’s office, the Home Department has now taken disciplinary action by suspending him.
