Karisma Kapoor’s ex-husband Sunjay Kapur passes away at 53

Mumbai, June 13: Indian businessman Sunjay Kapur, the ex-husband of Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor, has passed away at the age of 53 after suffering a heart attack.

Kapur was reportedly playing polo when he suddenly fell ill. He passed away in England earlier today. The news was confirmed by author and columnist Suhel Seth, who expressed his condolences on social media:

"Deeply saddened at the passing of @sunjaykapur: he passed away earlier today in England: a terrible loss and deepest condolences to his family and to his colleagues @sonacomstar …Om Shanti,” Seth wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Sunjay Kapur was the chairman of Sona Comstar, a leading automotive systems manufacturer. He was recently appointed as the chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Northern Region. In his new role, Kapur was focused on driving industrial growth, policy reforms, and strengthening MSMEs across seven states and three union territories in North India. He had also outlined a vision to bridge gaps between startups, MSMEs, and academia.

Just hours before his death, Kapur had posted a message expressing grief over the recent Air India plane crash, which claimed several lives.

Kapur was married to Karisma Kapoor in 2003, and the couple had two children together. After years of marital discord, they officially divorced in 2016. He later married Priya Sachdev, with whom he had another child.

Sunjay Kapur's sudden demise has left the business and entertainment communities in shock, with many expressing sorrow over the loss of a dynamic leader and family man.
